Desiree Alliance Conference Wrap-Up

The Conference experience was overall hectic, but really positive for me. I connected with other sex workers and activists that I've been dying to meet for a long time and felt really supported within my community. My main regret seems to be not being able to talk to everybody that I wanted to meet, but I guess there's always next year for that? Well, maybe...

Desiree is in a bit of a turning point right now, as some of the main organizers want to turn it over to a new set of hands. Most of the final day...a decompression day, no less...was dedicated to discussing this task. While it seems like the conference will continue for now, whether it will be yearly or bi-yearly is still a little up in the air. I would agree it should be yearly, but I also understand how difficult it is to plan one of these things, especially when people don't always do what they promise to do.

I did mange to find time to do some interviews for Red Light while I was running around, usually on the sly when I was pressed for time. As a result, the lighting and sound vary from dark to windy, but it was still a treat to be able to interview all the people I did. I'll be posting the individual interviews in upcoming segments, but for now I've posted some reflections on the conference from Sadie Lune, Renegade Evolution, and Amanda Brooks.
